Dear 5A Families,
It’s hard to believe we are already 1 week away from winter break! We’ve been busy working in 5A and have had some fun extras along the way! Earlier this week we had a visit from the Museum of Science, we did a STEM challenge to build a container that would keep an ice cube from melting, and have been working tirelessly on our first 5 paragraph essay!
Mrs. Avallone’s Notes:
In math we are getting to the end of unit 4, and the Unit test is next Thursday (12/22). Study guides went home on Wednesday and a signature is due back this coming Wednesday. The kids will play Jeopardy and have a day of differentiation as ways to review next week. In Science, the chapter 5 test went well, and we are continuing our study of ecosystems in chapter 6 (Ecosystems & Change). The kids should be finished researching their ecosystem for their project, and taking time now to put together a quick script they will use for the final project next week. In social studies we are learning about the early civilizations in North America, and will begin a quick project from the perspective of an Inuit next week. In writing we are self-editing our MA Attraction 5 paragraph essay, and are also working on incorporating revision strategies.
