Dear 5A Families,
In math we will be breaking the Unit 6 test up into 2 days next Tuesday and Wednesday. Monday we will play Jeopardy to review, but students should be practicing skills by logging into their Everyday Math page and/or completing the practice problems in the study guide. In Science, we’ve had a lot of fun learning about rocks and minerals and are in the process of completing our poster project. This will become homework after a couple of more class periods next week. In social studies, we studied 8 important explorers who made an impact during the Age of Exploration, and then each student selected an explorer to research. They turned the information they found into a trading card. We’ll be presenting these next week. In writing we are still working on narratives, but have a new prompt to work with. The kids are finishing up rough drafts about what happens when they realize they are not alone in a strange house! Their goal is to maintain focus on the prompt while incorporating narrative elements they’ve learned.
Important Dates
3/15: Class Ice Cream Party – thank you to Mrs. La Tanzi, Mrs. Fallon, & Mrs. Corey for helping out!
3/16: In-class STEM project
3/17: Term 2 Ends
3/24: Bay Colony Educators visit 5th grade
3/24: Practice ELA MCAS
3/24: Report Cards go home
3/25: Foster’s Talent Show @ HHS
Miscellaneous
Tissues and/or cleaning wipes would be appreciated! We are working hard to keep a healthy class!
Cheers,
Kathryn
